There are several methods that are used to cook beef. What method you should use depends on the cut of the beef and weight of the beef. Braising is a method used for less tender cuts of meat such as steaks and roasts. Braising allows these thick cuts of beef to tenderize and become flavorful. To use this method you take a large skillet or use a dutch oven to slowly brown the beef with just a small amount of oil. Pour out oil and season the meat than add about a half a cup of wine, broth, beer or juice.

You could also use water but the other options will add more flavor to the beef while it is cooking. Cover the pan tightly with a lid so that you can contain the steam. Let the skillet simmer on the stove or you can place it in the oven at 300F until the meat is tender. Check while the beef is cooking to make sure that the liquid has not evaporated. You could also add vegetables to the meat and liquid to give the broth more flavor.

Broiling is another method used to cook beef which is a quick dry-heat method that is done in the oven using the broiler setting. This method is best to use for more tender cuts of meat. You can use less tender cuts but only if the meat has been marinated because marination of the meat allows it to tenderize. Cuts that you could use for this cooking method are rib eye steaks, top loin steaks, T-Bone steaks, tenderloin and hamburger patties. You could also use top round, shoulder and flank if the beef has been marinated prior to cooking. Make sure to set the broiler setting on your oven than preheat for about ten minutes. While the broiler is on make sure to keep the oven open for electric ranges and closed for gas ranges. When your ready to cook your beef, take it out of the fridge and season. Than place in broiler making sure the distance between the broiler and the beef is where you want it according to how you want the meat cooked.

Grilling is another popular method of cooking that also uses quick dry heat for tender cuts of beef. The flames are from charcoal, gas or wood depending on what you prefer to use for your barbecue grill. To grill you must preheat your gas grill or prepare your charcoal by double stacking them than poring lighter fluid over them. Let them burn for about thirty minutes before you proceed to place your beef on the grill. After the thirty minutes the grill will be at medium heat which is the desired level of heat so that you do not end up overcooking your food. Season or marinade the beef and place on the grill. Let it cook on each side only once. The length of time the beef should stay on the grill all depends on how you want it done.

Pan broiling method involves using a pan on a stove top and cooking the beef without any butter or oil. This method used for thinner cuts of meat. You could use top blade, cubed, ground beef patties and rib eye are recommended. Place a heavy non-stick skillet on the stove and turn on medium to high heat for about five minutes. After seasoning your cut of beef place in skillet without adding any water or oil to the pan. Leave the skillet uncovered and remember to turn the beef only once.
